You Make the Call

Chamber Project St. Louis gets into the cagefighting business with tonight's concert, ACE. The program features three pieces by composers from around the world and different time periods, each represented by one of their strongest pieces of chamber music. In this corner, Franz Schubert's Trio for Violin, Viola and Cello; his opponent, Paul Creston and his Sonata for Saxophone and Piano. Both Creston and Schubert must also contend with Robert Schumann's Piano Quintet in Eb. The judges for this bout are the audience, who are not only encouraged to discuss the merits of each piece with the musicians after the show, but to cast a vote for their favorite. The winner of ACE won't be revealed until Chamber Project St. Louis' next show, Choice, in June, when the entire program will consist of the audience's top vote-getters from every concert this season. So get in there, and let's have a good clean fight. ACE is performed at 8 p.m. tonight at the Chapel (6238 Alexander Drive; Tickets are $4 to $15 and include two drinks.
