Well-Aged Beer

Oof, 1991: the year that Bryan Adams' "(Everything I Do) I Do It for You" topped the Billboard charts, revealing Americans' embarrassing proclivity toward earnest cheese-ballads. Yet, that same year, St. Louisans demonstrated impeccable taste by embracing newcomer Schlafly Beer. At a time when Budweiser was still King, Schlafly entered the market and fomented a microbrew revolution that continues to this day. Celebrate the little-brewery-that-could today at Schlafly's nineteenth anniversary party at the Schlafly Tap Room (2100 Locust Street). The fine folks at this beloved brewpub are charging 1991 prices for all of their delicious beers. As if great, cheap beer wasn't incentive enough, Schlafly is also reducing the cost of new memberships to its Schlafly Imperial Pint (SIP) Club; today only, pay just $19 to become a member (benefits include everything from invites to special tastings to twenty-ounce beers for the price of sixteen-ouncers). The Lucky Dog Band performs in the Club Room from 5:30 to 9:30 p.m., and there is no cost to attend the birthday celebration or to see the show.
