We Are All Made of Stars

"It's time to shine" — that's the motto of St. Louis-born choreographer Tanya Alexander's SuperNova Production Group. Never mind that stellar supernovas signify the deaths of stars; Alexander's SuperNova is in the business of making stars. Which is exactly the plan today as SuperNova Dance Tours hosts its Dance Team and Hip-Hop Crew Competition 2006 at 1 p.m. at Jennings High School (8850 Cozens Avenue, Jennings). The competition is open to solo dancers and groups (participants must be age eight or older) in the categories of jazz, dance team sport, hip-hop and freestyle. Cash prizes and trophies are awarded to the winners, but everyone can participate in a post-competition hip-hop class taught by Alexander herself.

To register your team, visit, or call 800-896-0876 for more information. Entry is $10 for teams or $2 for audience members; proceeds benefit SuperNova's Education Through Entertainment and the Stars and Heroes program at Jennings High School.
