Unfaithful Army Wives

Many a reality television show has demonstrated the sticky situation that ensues when one lover loses trust in another. If you look through her text messages (the modern equivalent of reading a journal or listening in on a phone call) and discover something unsavory, you're left in quite the predicament. Do you confront the cheater, admitting your own guilt? Are you just as criminal as the accused? Did your distrust lead her astray in the first place? In Così fan tutte (translation: "women are like that"), the faithfulness of two young women is tested by their respective fiancés. Ferrando and Guglielmo pretend to go to war; they immediately return, don Albanian disguises and attempt to woo each other's lovers. The drama unfolds as Opera Theatre of Saint Louis presents its premiere performance of Così fan tutte at 7 p.m. this Sunday, June 3 at Webster University's Loretto-Hilton Center for Performing Arts (130 Edgar Road). Performances continue through June 22. For show dates and times or to purchase tickets, call 314-961-0644 or visit opera-stl.org.
