Two Days to Glory

Meet Paul (or Paula) Sweeney. He (or she) is a substitute teacher who may (or may not) be carrying an umbrella, and who at some point will say (or hear) the words "I don't recommend it." You'll get to know several styles of Sweeney during the tenth annual 48 Hour Film Project, which requires teams of filmmakers to write, direct, shoot and produce a four-to-seven-minute film that incorporates each of the preceding elements, all within two days. The best of the submissions screen tonight at 7 p.m. at the Landmark Tivoli Theatre (6350 Delmar Boulevard, University City; 314-995-6270 or www.48hourfilm.com/en/stlouis) so be prepared to laugh, cry or root for the underdog -- or something else entirely. For more fun, check out the website to see entries from previous festivals going all the way back to 2004, the Project's first year in St. Louis. Admission to the screening is $10.
