Actor Michael Tucker is perhaps most immediately recognized as Stuart Markowitz, the genuine mensch lawyer on '80s TV powerhouse dramedy, L.A. Law
. But he's also a an accomplished stage actor and author of a couple memoirs (I Never Forget a Meal
and Living in a Foreign Language
) that rely heavily on his love of food and acting. So it's no surprise his first novel also features a healthy foundation of theatrical framing. After Annie
is the story of Herbie, a middle-aged actor who's set adrift in his own life after his wife Annie dies. How do you close out the third act of your life when the script goes through such an extensive rewrite at the last minute? The St. Louis Jewish Book Festival brings Tucker and his very-much-alive wife Jill Eikenberry (also of L.A. Law
fame) to town to talk about and sign his novel, as well as conduct a Q&A with the audience. Michael Tucker and Jill Eikenberry take the stage at 7:30 p.m. tonight at the Jewish Community Center (2 Millstone Campus Drive, Creve Coeur; 314-442-3299 or www.stljewishbookfestival.org
). Admission is $15.
