In Static on the Line we find the Mad Art Gallery (2727 South 12th Street; 314-771-8230 or focusing on two featured artists: Fontbonne alumnus Fabrizio Passanisi and Nashville-based painter L.A. Bachman. Encapsulated by contrasting approaches to high concept pieces on life and living, both artists are able to complement similar visions through different imagery. Austere in nature and vibrant in color, Passanisi’s work serves as musings on existence and connectivity through familiar nods to the human element. Bachman’s acrylic and watercolor work often lends itself as an exercise in self-reflection through intense colors and blooming patterns. Though the two operate between viscerally recognizable images and the abstract, it is with this juxtaposition that they are able to communicate the same idea to each particular audience member's taste. Whether it is from the gut, heart or mind, Passanisi and Bachman work together to answer the question: What moves you? Static on the Line opens with a free reception Friday, August 2, from 7 to 11 p.m.
Tuesdays-Saturdays. Starts: Aug. 3. Continues through Aug. 25, 2012
