Too Much Love

All you need is love, claimed the Beatles, and though that's a nice sentiment it's only half true. In order for that love to stick you'll need an equivalent measure of honesty and fair dealing, too. That's a fact of life Lyman Felt learns the hard way. Lyman likes his ladies to the degree that he can't confine himself to only one; he's so sexually rapacious he's a bigamist, and that arrangement works fine for him for a while. Then Lyman gets in a serious car accident and his wives meet for the first time, with disastrous results, while he's recuperating in the hospital. Arthur Miller's The Ride Down Mount Morgan examines themes of selfishness, libertine recklessness and extravagant deception -- both of oneself and everyone else. Miller's play is performed by St. Louis Actors' Studio at 8 p.m. Thursday through Saturday and at 3 p.m. Sunday (January 17 through February 2) at the Gaslight Theater (358 North Boyle Avenue; 314-458-2978 or www.stlas.org).
