Tony Renner Works on Paper (Chance)

Musican, artist, ponderer of deep thoughts, Tony Renner does it all -- and a lot of it he does from behind the counter of Vintage Vinyl. Renner's greatest strength as an artist -- let's use it in the all-encomassing sense of the word, please -- is his forward motion. Always forging ahead in search of the next idea, the next experience, Renner covers more ground than most people because of his unshakeable belief that there is always more ground ahead of him. The horizon is not back-drop for Renner; it's an enticement and a challenge. Keep moving or die. Works on Paper (Chance), Renner's new show of abstract visual art, is his second show of original work in the past 12 months. He may have a third lined up before the end of Works on Paper (Chance)'s opening reception, which takes place from 7 to 9 p.m. on Friday, January 16, at Subterranean Books (6275 Delmar Boulevard, University City). These iterations of his work remain on display in the upstairs gallery through Sunday, March 15.
