The USA Is a Monster

8 p.m. Sunday, October 1. Lemp Neighborhood Arts Center, (3301 Lemp Avenue)

Let's face it, there's enough crap coming out of Brooklyn these days to fertilize a third-world country. But thankfully, The USA Is A Monster are doing their part to help rectify that. On its MySpace page (, the band describes its sound as "Rush meets Melvins meets Corndawg," and although we're not really sure what that means, we sort of agree anyway. Equal parts aggressive and avant-garde, USA's latest release, Sunset At the End of The Industrial Age, shows why it's become the most recognizable underground rock duo since Lightning Bolt. But don't take our word for it: Come out to the show and witness it live for yourself. Oh, and don't forget to tell the doorman that Corndawg sent ya.
