The Return of Free Candy

Free Candy, you old-timers may recall, was the talk show that was never broadcast on any tv or radio station, yet was still staged live every month at the Hartford Coffee Company. Hosts Amanda Doyle and Julie Smillie believed that if you brought together local people of interest and engaged them in intelligent, sometimes irreverant conversation, the "studio" audience would have a good time. Throw in a house band and the chucking of free candy into the audience and you had a show that was too good for broadcast -- you simply had to be there to get it. But people moved, and other people had babies, and Free Candy quietly vanished. Life happens. Tonight, seemingly out of the blue, Free Candy returns. The tried and true method of live music, sparkling guests and a rant and/or rave from Amanda is back on tap at Hartford. Bring a friend, and come hungry for candy. Admission is still free, same as it ever was.
