In her talk, Han will share her experiences living and working throughout Asia and Europe and will also discuss the creative challenges and evolution of her visceral and metaphorical work. Han is drawn to issues of how human experiences are shaped and defined in contemporary culture. Over the past decade, Han has been exploring the theme of idealized female imagery to investigate the issues of race, culture, identity and perception in today’s pluralistic societies. In Battle of Conception, featured in the Ladies’ Knight exhibition, Han investigates the critical importance of perception as the key to defining oneself and the other.
