When successful comedian Benny Silverman is accused of communist sympathies in the McCarthy-poisoned '50s, his good pal Leo Greshen testifies against him, nailing the lid on the coffin for what was once a promising career and friendship. Years later his actress daughter, Norma, is cast in a play directed by the estranged Greshen -- forcing Benny to reconcile his turbulent past with his awkward present and the audience to consider the implications of identity and the value of a name. The New Jewish Theatre presents The Value of Names at the Jewish Community Center's Wool Studio Theatre (2 Millstone Campus Drive; 314-442-3283 or at 7:30 p.m. Thursday, March 15.
