The Moveable Buffett

Billionaire investor Warren Buffett made news when he announced most of his fortune would be given to charity upon his death. If you wondered what his children thought of that move, at least one took it as challenge -- but not how you might think. Howard G. Buffett thought dad's idea was inspirational and challenged himself to do good as well. The younger Buffett was a farmer first, so he decided to tackle world hunger, which affects 1 billion people, and gave himself a 40-year deadline to make a lasting difference. Buffett and his son, Howard W. Buffett, chronicle this mission in their book, 40 Chances: Finding Hope in a Hungry World, which is also a call to action for others to join the fight. Both Howards discuss their book and their journey at 7 p.m. at the St. Louis County Library Headquarters (1640 South Lindbergh Boulevard, Frontenac; 314-994-3300 or Admission is free, and Left Bank Books will sell copies of 40 Chances at the event.
