The Masked Man Plays Again!

In our office, "The Music of the Night" means only one thing: Herr Nacht's extensive (some would say "frightening") collection of grindcore rarities, death-metal imports and The Waitresses LPs (seriously). But for musical-theater devotees from London's West End to New York's Great White Way, "The Music of the Night" is a stirring ballad from the perennially popular The Phantom of the Opera. Since its stage debut in 1986, Phantom has resonated with audiences worldwide. A beautiful heroine with a knockout voice, a tragically disfigured hero abandoned by modern society, a bajillion dazzling costumes and a bad-ass crashing chandelier that makes that Miss Saigon helicopter look like a baby toy? Yeah, buddy: That's theater. Andrew Lloyd Webber's sensational show haunts the Fox Theatre (527 North Grand Boulevard) through Saturday, July 1 (check out www.fabulousfox.com for a complete list of dates and times). Tickets are $20 to $70 and can be purchased by calling MetroTix at 314-534-1111 or visiting www.metrotix.com. Porcelain masks and half-capes are optional (unless you're Mr. Night, in which case they're "mandatory office wear").
