The Magnificent Marvin

Hollywood doesn't make actors like Lee Marvin anymore. The tall, gray-haired Marvin made a career out of playing gravel-voiced heavies in films such as The Wild One and The Dirty Dozen, but he won an Academy Award for his dual role in the cowboy comedy Cat Ballou. Super-8 versions of all of these films, plus his hobo epic Emperor of the North and the gritty Western The Professionals, are screened from 8 p.m. to midnight as part of the Super-8 Lee Marvin Movie Madness at the Way Out Club (2525 South Jefferson Avenue; In addition, a full episode of Marvin's now rarely seen police drama M Squad will be shown on the 16mm projector, and Lee Marvin trivia with prizes rounds out the evening. Admission is $3.
