The Joy of Company

Everybody eats, but not everybody can throw a dinner party -- or can they? Sure, you may think your mismatched plates and appetizer-heavy lifestyle disqualifies you from inviting people over for a lively evening of food and fun, but you’re wrong. Nobody comes to a dinner party because of the flatware -- that’s why it’s not called a flatware party. Zora O’Neill and Tamara Reynolds, two New York-based food scene veterans, host twice-monthly paries where the emphasis is on people and good eats, as it should be. Their book, Forking Fantastic! Put the Party Back in Dinner Party, is a handy guide for anyone interested in whipping a little something together and calling up friends to share it. O’Neill and Reynolds visit Left Bank Books (399 North Euclid Avenue; 314-367-6731 or at 7 p.m. tonight to share tips on how you, too, can host a boffo wingding. Admission is free, and there will be food samples.
