Thai Gai Yang Cafe Staff Pick Menu Image

Price: $

This Delmar Loop fixture (one of four Thai restaurants within a couple of blocks, all owned by Supatana "Pat" Prapaisilapa) features many of your favorite Thai curries, salads and noodle dishes, but you might want to take your cue from the joint's name. Gai yang refers to grilled or barbecued chicken, and Thai Gai Yang Cafe's - marinated in garlic, coconut cream and spices before being roasted - is terrific. Tom kha gai (soup with chicken, galangal, lemongrass, lime leaves and red chile) brings sinus-clearing heat. The kitchen will gladly adjust the heat in your dishes, but the menu is blunt: You can't return what you don't like - or can't handle.
