Charis probes deeply

Is therapy funny? Those 50-minute hours spent unburdening yourself to a professional listener may seem comical to those who don’t avail themselves of the psychiatric arts, but consider the facts: That hour at therapy is an hour not spent at home with the “loved ones.” Yeah, that’s right; now who’s crazy? Charis, the St. Louis Women’s Chorus, embraces the humorous side of therapy with Charis on the Couch, a musical program of personal discovery that features songs such as “I Come From Good People” and “Processing.” Out and outrageous comedian Lisa Koch is the special guest star, providing a little extra hilarity to go with the self-revelations. Charis on the Couch takes place at 7:30 p.m. Friday and Saturday (April 25 and 26) at the Missouri History Museum (Lindell Boulevard and DeBaliviere Avenue; 314-664-9340 or www.charischorus.org). Tickets are $15 to $25, which wouldn’t even buy you a quarter-hour with a shrink.
