After years of living in wine's shadow, never getting invited to fancy pairing dinners and rarely receiving any accolades or respect, beer has been having a moment for the past couple of years. If you haven't been part of the grape-free movement, know that it's OK to ditch the stemware every now and again, celebrate drink diversity and learn more about our fermented friend at events like the O'Fallon Global Brew Craft Beer Bash
. Held from 11 a.m. to 8 p.m. at O'Fallon Community Park (401 East Fifth Street, O'Fallon, Illinois), this beer-stravaganza helps folks become more acquainted with more than 40 beers from all over the world, as well as some specialty brews from Dogfish Head and other craft breweries. Food and live music round out the fun, and free admission makes the price just right -- but, of course, you should bring some cash for suds and snacks. For more information about the bash, call 618-632-1818.
