Stress: the Gift That Keeps on Giving

The holiday month is a period of great stress. You could pin the blame on the crowds, the various home-and-work parties or the barrage of commercials, but you'd be fooling yourself. Most holiday stress is generated by the family; you have to see them at some point during the holidays. And nobody can push your buttons like family can — after all, they installed most of those buttons. Andy Gorski puts his buttons under maximum assault this Christmas; he's flying home to Pittsburgh for a lovely visit with his devout Roman Catholic parents, Phil and Emily, and his retarded brother, Mickey. Accompanying Andy is his fiancé, Randi — formerly Jewish, currently an atheist. What, pray tell, will these people talk about during dinner? Salvation of the human soul through means spiritual and emotional — and at top volume with caustic barbs sprinkled throughout the evening, of course. The St. Louis Actors' Studio presents Tom Duzick's Greetings, a wry seasonal comedy, at 8 p.m. Thursday through Saturday and 2 p.m. Sunday (December 7 through 23) at the Gaslight Theatre (358 North Boyle Avenue; 314-458-2978 or Tickets are $15 to $20.
Thursdays-Sundays. Starts: Dec. 7. Continues through Dec. 23, 2007
