Stewards of Land and Dog

Even if you're not lucky enough to live on or near a farm, and even if you don't own a dog, don't let those quibbles deter you from attending the Farm Dog Block Party (Pine Street between Jefferson Avenue and 20th Street). This free event is a collaborative effort by two stellar local nonprofits, Stray Rescue of St. Louis and Gateway Greening, to boost awareness of both the plight of abandoned and/or abused dogs (that's Stray Rescue's focus) and the need for smarter stewardship of existing or unutilized open green spaces throughout our metro area (Gateway Greening's, uh, turf). Just trot over to Pine today from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. to enjoy the assortment of vendors and food trucks along with food demos, tours of Gateway Greening's urban farm, dog demos and doggie massages. And if you don't have a dog to massage, you can adopt one while you're there. Call 314-588-9600 or visit www.gatewaygreening.org for more information.
