Start Talking

Artists see things differently than the rest of us. Through the lens of their varied media, these creative visionaries try to convey ideas, push boundaries and express opinions. In the case of the new exhibit at the Gallery at the Regional Arts Commission (6128 Delmar Boulevard; 314-863-5811 or www.art-stl.com), the works of more than 30 local artists serve to facilitate conversations on a variety of topics, from racism to immigration and from war to gun control and more. “Speak Up, St. Louis!” American Democracy Project Redux not only gives voice to more traditional gallery artists like Zlatko Cosic (he does video work), but also actors, dancers and musicians. To see these works and then hear some of the artists’ thoughts on the wide range of topics, drop by RAC this evening. A free gallery talk gets under way at 7 p.m., but come a half-hour early to mingle during the reception.
