So many times, wonderful organizations have fundraisers that could be much more, um, wonderful. Snaps to Young Variety for not falling into this category. These supporters of St. Louis Variety, a charity that assists disabled children (www.varietystl.org), plan a fun, entertaining event each year called Night of the Rising Stars. And it’s time for this party at the Pageant (6161 Delmar Boulevard) once again. The evening begins at 8 p.m. and features complimentary food and Anheuser-Busch products. Sets by local favorites Brian Elder, Jonathan Cour, DJ Andrew Mullins and Todd Mosby keep the party going until the wee hours — 1 a.m.! — and silent-auction items are up for the buying to supplement Young Variety’s fundraising efforts. To help the group along, go ahead and get your $41 ticket now from Ticketmaster (314-241-1888 or www.ticketmaster.com), at the Pageant or by calling Variety at 314-453-0453, extension 15; admission costs $50 at the door. And remember: You’re partying for the kids.
