Oftentimes the celebrities who fill the magazines don’t seem to be good at much. Their clothes can look atrocious, their driving usually leaves a lot to be desired, and their attitudes are mostly despicable. But in St. Louis, our famous sorts are respectable charmers. They give of their time and efforts to support a variety of worthy causes, and they’ll even clean up your dirty dishes to show how much they care. To applaud our celebrities -- and to do so while they’re working for you -- make your reservation right now for the Saint Louis Crisis Nursery’s Celebrity Waitresses’ and Waiters’ Night 2007, happening at Monarch Restaurant (7401 Manchester Road, Maplewood; 314-644-3995 or www.monarchrestaurant.com) from 5:30 to 11 p.m. During this lovely fundraiser, your table could be waited on by St. Louis County executive Charlie Dooley, Deb Peterson from the St. Louis Post-Dispatch, Larry Conners from KMOV-TV (Channel 4) or the Riverfront Times’ own Jessica Carten. Now, these personalities aren’t professional waitstaff, but that doesn’t mean you shouldn’t tip generously -- the tips are what the Crisis Nursery collects at the end of the night. Regular menu prices prevail for your meal, and raffle tickets are also available for purchase. For more information on the starry night, visit www.crisisnurserykids.org.
