St. Louis Chamber Chorus, Concert 1, "REBIRTH and REVIVAL"

Saint Louis Chamber Chorus begins its 61st season at the Resurrection of Our Lord Catholic Church, a masterpiece of 1950's architecture in South St. Louis. The Chorus will perform the Mass in G major by Poulenc, with “Five Hymns from the Sacred Harp” interwoven among its movements. Several pieces directly address the Resurrection, from Gibbons, Wood and Gretchaninoff. A world premiere, “The Day of Resurrection,” by Melissa Dunphy, was commissioned for this concert. Two works explore the uncertainty of afterlife and rebirth, with Barber's choral cycle “Reincarnations” and Bantock's “Darest Thou Now, O Soul”. Parking is free!
