Spokes & Saddles: An Illustrated Presentation of the 25th Infantry Bicycle Corp

When: Sat., March 25, 2-4 p.m. 2017

Author Wes Hardin will be on hand at the Central Library this Saturday (March 25) from 2 to 4 p.m. to discuss the historical journey of the 25th Infantry Bicycle Corps of 1897. Originally formed in 1869, the 25th Infantry was one of four African-American military units posted west of the Mississippi River. Known as Buffalo Soldiers, these military men were deployed in 1897 to travel 1,900 miles across 5 states (from Billings, MT, to St. Louis, Mo.) in 41 days to test bicycles as vehicles for war.
