In a particularly sweet spot in Grand Center, the one that's held down by the Pulitzer Foundation for the Arts and the Contemporary Art Museum St. Louis, there's a bit of a yin-yang thing going on during this, the most love- and chocolate-filled day of the year. At CAM, you've got your Unhappy Hour for the completely disenchanted, but at the Pulitzer (3716 Washington Boulevard; 314-754-1850 or www.pulitzerarts.org
), the celebrations are a bit different. During Sound Waves + Poetry
, Mary Jo Bang, Nathaniel Farrell, Qiu Xiaolong and others will read poetry over live blues music played by the Fabulous Foehners, and sweets, including dark-chocolate truffles, will be served, all of which will provide a sensory-enhanced viewing experience for The Progress of Love
, the Pulitzer's current exhibition about love and love lost (all the more reason to dive into those truffles, right?). To get your discerning V Day on, head to the exhibition space between 6 and 9 p.m. Admission is free, but bring along some extra cash if you want to nibble.
