Before she was the Wicked Witch of the West, she was Elphaba, a young woman whose green skin and magical powers made her an outcast, even in Oz. And the so-called "good witch" Glinda was Galinda, an ambitious and popular girl with suspect judgment. Wicked, Stephen Schwartz and Winnie Holzman's popular musical adaptation of Gregory Maguire's novel, tells the tale of what happened between these rivals before Dorothy crashed Oz's party. Wicked opens at 8 p.m. Wednesday, December 12, at the Fox Theatre (527 North Grand Boulevard; 314-534-1111 or www.fabulousfox.com). The show continues daily through Sunday, January 6 (no performance on Monday or Christmas), and tickets are $28 to $85.
Dec. 12-23; Tuesdays-Sundays. Starts: Dec. 12. Continues through Jan. 6, 2007
