Sole and the Skyrider Band

9 p.m. Thursday, March 25. The Firebird, 2706 Olive Street.

Tim Holland is best known for cofounding the indie hip-hop label Anticon, which paved the way for countless emcees to operate outside the genre's regulation style and topics. But over the past few years, Holland has moved even further afield: He rechristened himself Sole, relocated to an isolated canyon cabin in Arizona's Coconino National Forest and teamed with the band Skyrider to create adventurous new soundscapes for his rhymes. Last year's full-length, Plastique, drew on such disparate sources as dub, Americana and jam-band pyrotechnics to back Sole's critiques of contemporary life.
