Never has the state's nickname been more appropriate than it is now, when the bold, beautiful, bodacious bodies of the Show-Me Burlesque festival
take the stage Thursday through Saturday (May 21 through 23). The festival honors St. Louis' rich burlesque and vaudeville history with four different shows held across a variety of venues. Friday's bash is at 7 p.m. at the Ivory Theatre (7620 Michigan Avenue;; www.showmeburlesque.com
) and stars a cast of award-winning burlesque performers sure to get pulses pounding. Lola van Ella hosts the show, and highlights include the raunch-o-rific Kitten LaRue and the high-flying, bowling-ball-juggling antics of Mr. Spring & Strongman Tulga. Admission is $20 to $30. Weekend passes good for all shows are $65 to $120.
