Shotgun Wedding

Of all William Shakespeare's plays, none have proven more durable than his romantic tragedy Romeo and Juliet, because star-crossed lovers from rival families resonate in any age. The Riverside Shakespeare Theatre Co. updates the play slightly by recasting the Montagues and Capulets as America's most famous feuding families, the Hatfields and McCoys -- and they're fixin' to let the whole dern family feud play out live before a hootin' and hollerin' audience. Admission is free, but attendees will be asked to choose a side before they settle in, so fetch yer kin and lug along the young'uns to beef up yer clan. Romeo and Juliet is performed at 8 p.m. Friday and Saturday and 5 p.m. Sunday (June 21 through 30) in Wapelhorst Park (1874 Muegge Road, St Charles; www.riversidetheatreco.org). Blankets and lawn chairs are recommended, and concessions will be available, but feel free to bring your own vittles.
Fridays-Sundays. Starts: June 21. Continues through June 30, 2013
