"Belly dancing" is a generic term that encompasses several schools of dance. Ami Amore's Urban Cabaret presents a sampling of belly dance that covers the spectrum. At a typical Urban Cabaret you'll see classic Egyptian, Gothic, tribal and dark fusion dancers of all skill levels perform. Tonight at 7 p.m. at 2720 (2720 Cherokee Street; www.2720Cherokee.com), Amore brings together Salwa al Helwa and Aalim Dance Company, Aisling, Lydia Hawk, Pixie Nyx and Zanjibal Zen — literally an A to Z of belly dance — along with her own Exotic Rhythms Bellydance and Mosaic Collective for hot dancing on a very cold evening. Stick around for a dance party with music by DJ Monsieur Gaston. Admission is $10.
