Trekkies, get your communicators ready -- whether they are the classic hand-held version of Star Trek (the original series) or the sleek lapel-pin version from The Next Generation. Star Trek: The Exhibition opens at 9:30 a.m. Friday, October 28, at the Saint Louis Science Center (5050 Oakland Avenue; 314-289-4400 or www.slsc.org), and this is the largest collection of original artifacts ever assembled in one place. Where else can you can get a gander at props from all five live-action TV shows and eleven films? That means costumes and iconic bits of speculative technology such as tri-corders, as well as full-size versions of the U.S.S. Enterprise's bridge, the sickbay from TNG and the piece de resistance -- Captain James Tiberius Kirk's command chair. That's right, you could warm your buns in the Shatner afterglow. Star Trek: The Exhibition is open every day well into next year; tickets cost $13.50 to $17.50.
