Scope out the Stars

The perfect way to spend a spring evening isn't at the movies (you'll end up sitting in front of the kicking kid), and it isn't being packed into the crowd at the latest hip nightspot (whose hand is that, anyway?). How about an evening in the country, pairing delicious Missouri wines with a little bit of astronomy? Yes, perfection can be found at the Cave Vineyard's Stargazers' Dinner, held from 7 to 10 p.m. (at 21084 Cave Road, Ste. Genevieve). Telescopes and volunteers from the St. Louis Astronomical Society are on hand to help you identify Mars, Saturn, Jupiter, star clusters and other astronomical delights. The price of $20 per person includes a casual dinner from Tiger Ridge Restaurant; you must also make a wine purchase. Reservations are necessary, and in case of rain, the stargazing will be moved to Friday, May 5. For more information or to save your spot for the fun, call 573-543-5284 or visit www.cavevineyard.com.
