In today's hyper-compressed music scene, where bands are pressured to constantly deliver new music, Saosin is refreshing. The Southern California post-hardcore quintet insists on taking an extremely long time to write, record and release new material. The band's debut EP, 2003's Translating the Name, went off like a bomb in the Warped Tour-centric scene and prompted dozens of copycats — who struck gold by capitalizing on Saosin's innovative sound. Of course, the band took three years to make its well-received, self-titled full-length debut and another three before dropping the follow-up, 2009's In Search of Solid Ground. By now, many of those copycats have already broken up or been demoted to curtain-jerker status on package tours. And yet Saosin is still chugging along. You know what they say about slow and steady...
