Only a handful of actors have won the Academy Award for repeating roles they first created onstage. Now, in her own inimitable manner, Helen Mirren is reversing that heady process. After having won the Oscar in 2007 for her steely portrayal of Elizabeth II in The Queen, Dame Helen has returned to Elizabeth in The Audience, a new stage play by Peter Morgan (who also wrote The Queen and Frost/Nixon) that presumes to imagine what might have happened behind closed doors during 60 years of weekly meetings between the Queen and the dozen Prime Ministers who have held temporary office during her reign. The play has been one of London's hottest tickets for months. Now, through the auspices of National Theatre Live, The Audience has been "captured live" and by royal command will be screened at the Landmark Tivoli Theatre (6350 Delmar Boulevard, University City) at 11 a.m. Saturday and at noon Sunday (June 29 and 30.
