An eminence of the Australian literary scene reads in our city this afternoon -- hardly an everyday occurrence. Robert Adamson is considered one of Down Under's major poets; while not a household name here, he's certainly known among the well-read inhabitants of that vast continent in the Southern hemisphere. As so many artists have done and continue to do, Adamson derives spiritual power and inspiration from a particular waterway threading through his soul's center: the Hawkesbury River north of Sydney. James Wright had his Ohio River, Adamson has his Hawkesbury, and today St. Louis has Adamson. His latest book of poetry is Net Needle.
