Riverly Rhythms

Rivers have inspired many a musician. Maybe the waterways' always-changing-yet-static nature brings on the songs. Or perhaps it's because their ever-rolling rhythm can match the beat of nearly any tune. Don't believe us? Test this theory out when you're at the Race for the Rivers Festival from noon to 7 p.m. at Frontier Park (500 South Riverside Drive, St. Charles). During this riverside party, all kinds of bands play — from pop-rockers Watching Judas to acoustic ensemble Meteor Pilots — and no matter the jam, the old Missouri will seem to be keeping time. In addition to all of the music, the fest offers lots of food and other booths, plus an excellent seat to watch the racers in both the Clean Water Challenge and the Race for the Rivers paddle past. To learn more about the fest and the races, visit www.racefortherivers.org; admission to the festival is free.
