Rip Corn

How awesome is the Great Godfrey Maze, a maze carved into a corn field? (Super awesome, indeed.) To verify this natural fact, head out to Glazebrook Park (1401 Stamper Lane; Godfrey, Illinois) beginning Friday, September 3, for a romp through the ears. This year, the maze represents an Alice in Wonderland tea-party adventure — at least, that's what you would see if you viewed the attraction from above (which you probably won't). From the ground it will look like a confusing, confounding maze, one full of enchantment and wrong turns and plenty of space to run around and enjoy pre-fall and fall weather (the maze is open Friday through Sunday and holiday Mondays through Sunday, October 31). Admission costs $4 to $6, and note that the park also features movie screenings, a corn festival and a haunted version of the maze as Halloween approaches, along with wagon rides ($2), a zip line ($3) and more; learn all about the maze and its goings-on at www.godfreyil.org or call 618-466-1483.
Fridays-Sundays. Starts: Sept. 3. Continues through Oct. 31, 2010
