St. Louis, despite our haughty French airs, actually has German roots that run just as deep. That history informs the new exhibition, Currents 107: Renata Stih & Frieder Schnock
, at the Saint Louis Art Museum in Forest Park (314-721-0072 or www.slam.org
). Stih and Schnock have constructed site-specific "interventions" throughout the museum that spring from three true pieces of German-St. Louis history. Encountering each piece gives the viewer the opportunity to explore the nodal points where Germany, St. Louis, art and the audience converge. Currents 107: Renata Stih & Frieder Schnock
opens Friday, September 27, and runs through Sunday, January 5, 2014. The museum is open every day except Monday, and admission is free.
Tuesdays-Sundays. Starts: Sept. 27. Continues through Jan. 5, 2013
