Reality Bites

What happens when a generation raised on heaping spoonfuls of Sesame Street optimism enters the fabled real world? If Princeton, the bright-eyed and bushy-tailed protagonist of Avenue Q, is any indication, they search for meaning, they get dumped and they settle, all while learning an impressive repertoire of lessons via song ("What Do You Do with a B.A. in English?" and "The Internet Is for Porn," for example). While the lessons are a bit brash compared to those taught by the puppets of recent, naive past, the humor and fur serve to soften the blow. Watch Princeton and friends get their MAs in hard knocks when [Insert Name Here] Theatre Company presents Avenue Q at 8 p.m. Thursday through Saturday (January 19 to 28) at the LGBT Center of St. Louis (4337 Manchester Avenue; 314-472-5428 or www.inhtheatre.com). Tickets are $18 to $20.
Thursdays-Saturdays, 8 p.m. Starts: Jan. 19. Continues through Jan. 28, 2012
