Rancid isn't interested in sitting back and collecting royalty checks from '90s hits like "Ruby Soho" and "Time Bomb." Even when on hiatus, the California punks are constantly touring and releasing albums with various side projects; guitarist/vocalist Tim Armstrong has worked as a solo artist and with the Transplants, while guitarist Lars Frederiksen's toured with his group the Bastards. But the core trio of Armstrong, Frederiksen and bassist Matt Freeman always seems to gravitate back to Rancid and churn out a solid record every few years. It helps that Rancid's fan base is as eclectic as its music due to a genre-blending style that jumps from punk to reggae to funk. Exene Cervenka opens and adds a local touch to the night: Her backing band the Original Sinners features Craig Straubinger and Dennis Williams from the Trip Daddys and Geargrinders member Jeff Hess on bass.
