Kudos to club Karma for bringing "percussive bliss" to town in the form of Ozomatli; be on the lookout for upstart country band Ashtray, coming soon to the Hi-Pointe
By Randall Roberts
A big round of applause for Karma, who put on the best show of the year so far last week in Ozomatli. Safe to say that every single person there will back me up on this one. A wonderfully integrated audience though the Hispanic community seems to have stayed home experienced pure percussive bliss. More people got funky at that show than at any in recent memory. Karma's on a roll, and the live-music scene is a hundred times better for it.... Slammin' young country band Ashtray, they of the vindictive naked-girl song mentioned a few issues back, will gig in St. Louis on Thursday, July 29, at the Hi-Pointe. Also on the bill is Rodeo Soul.
