Put On Sherlock's Thinking Cap

by

At the Saint Louis Science Center's (5050 Oakland Avenue; 314-289-4400 or www.slsc.org) International Exhibition of Sherlock Holmes, attendees can put on their thinking caps, be it a deerhunter, fedora or beanie, and do Watson one better by attempting to solve a murder mystery. The show introduces visitors to Holmes' scientific methods of investigation, primarily his use of observation and deduction, and then challenges them to use that knowledge to solve a fictional murder set in Holmes' era. The long and fruitful pop-culture history of Holmes is also presented via displays of original manuscript pages, film props, fan publications and some extremely clever Victorian-era tools of the trade, including Sherlock's body drag impression test and a footprint maker. The International Exhibition of Sherlock Holmes is open daily Thursday, October 9, through Tuesday, December 30. Admission is $13.50 to $17.50.
