Inspired by the sessions that created last summer's coke-jam anthems on Gayngs' Relayted LP, Minneapolis' Poliça enlisted Gayngs' ringleader Ryan Olson to produce the just-released Give You the Ghost. Singer Channy Leaneagh's Auto-Tuned vocals are perhaps the band's most prominent feature, but rather than dehumanize her voice, the effect gives the singer a modulated, ethereal complement to her natural tone. When mixed with two live drummers, a bassist and plenty of smartly programmed beats and sequences, Poliça's songs keep a strong rhythmic pulse that recalls IDM and hip-hop beats alongside an evocative, chilled-out vibe.

Gayng-Related Vibrance: If you liked Gayngs' hazy R&B grooves but bemoaned its lack of an emotional center, Poliça ties together the aesthetic with a faster BPM rate and Leaneagh's unmoored but affecting vox.
