Paranoid Android

Rosie the robot maid from The Jetsons may have once seemed cool -- even sweet -- but would the modern family trust a sentient being like her? If you want to learn more about robots, or if you're concerned that a Rosie-like helper would, say, seduce your husband, brainwash your children or maybe kill the dog, then The Coming War with Robots: A Historical Perspective is the lecture for you. Minsoo Kang, associate professor of history at the University of Missouri-St. Louis (and author of Sublime Dreams of Living Machines), will give a presentation followed by a discussion with a panel of local robotics experts at the Missouri History Museum’s Lee Auditorium (5700 Lindell Boulevard) on Tuesday, April 17. The free event’s activities begin at 6:30 p.m. with the program beginning at 7 p.m.. For more information, call 314-746-4599 or visit
