Of Angels and Angles

comment
Tony Kushner's Pulitzer Prize-winning two-part play, Angels in America: A Gay Fantasia on National Themes, has been adapted for the silver screen and television audiences, but it's no more powerful, surreal or visceral an experience than when witnessed onstage. Angels follows the intersecting lives of seven people living in mid-1980s America, all tangled in a web of sexuality, sickness, social politics and identity struggles. At once illuminating and heartbreaking, each character meets a pointed fate: remarkable triumph for some, harrowing despair for others. This month Stray Dog Theatre presents Part One and Two at Tower Grove Abbey (2336 Tennessee Avenue; 314-865-1995 or www.straydogtheatre.org), starting with Part One: Millennium Approaches on Thursday, April 12, at 7:30 p.m., and Part Two: Perestroika debuting Thursday, April 19. Tickets are $18 to 20.
Thursdays-Saturdays. Starts: April 12. Continues through May 10, 2012
