Michael Berkeley's adaptation of Jane Eyre receives its American premiere at 7 p.m. Sunday, June 4, at the Loretto-Hilton Center (130 Edgar Road, Webster Groves; 314-961-0644 or, and it promises to work your nerves. Young governess Jane falls in love with her employer, Mr. Rochester, as often happens in these cases. But the former Mrs. Rochester, something of a nutter, continues to haunt the Rochester home — perhaps more than Mr. Rochester cares to admit.
