New Restaurant

Opening a new restaurant is among the trickiest enterprises known to mankind. Few succeed in the long run, and even the ones that do often have their share of growing pains. To be declared our no.1 new restaurant, Sqwires has shown that it is possible to hit the ground running. Opened in October 2001, the versatile eatery -- which doubles as a market and great place to buy fresh seafood has become one of the main forces behind the current Lafayette Square renaissance. And fans of good spelling, don't despair -- the name comes from the Square itself, as well as WireWorks, the company renovating the nearby Western Wire factory building.
